Camana Bay: Cayman's Home Of The Holidays

Adjustments.jpeg

I have friends who couldn’t wait to put their Christmas trees and decorations up as soon as the clock struck midnight on Halloween, but I personally don’t get into the holiday spirit until December rolls around. The month of December is a busy time of year for residents because there is always has something going on from staff holiday parties, brunches, charity events and more. On thinking how I could help keep visitors and residents informed on the happenings of the holidays, Camana Bay was an easy place to choose as many of us go there regularly for fun, food, drinks and shopping. It’s no surprise that they want to remind everyone that they are your #HomeOfTheHolidays and I wanted to list my reasons on why this stands true.

Holiday Fun For Everyone

Whether you have young kids or are a kid at heart there is something for you to enjoy this holiday season in Camana Bay. Get to to the Crescent early if you want a good view of the Parade of Lights on December 7th, an island twist of American holiday parades that involves boats decked out in Christmas lights and holiday figurines to literally outshine one another. It’as all in the name of fun, but bragging rights and a cash prize means the participants go all out every year. By the time December 14th rolls around you probably need the 5K Santa Run to help keep the holiday weight gain at bay, so locate those reindeer ears, jingle bells or Santa hats knowing you worked out and contributed to the incredibly caring Cayman Food Bank. Wanting to make some memories with your family? Bring a blanket (or go early to grab a seat) and watch a family film on a large outdoor screen at Moonlight and Movies or arrange a photo shoot with Santa in his traditional suit or tropical beachwear courtesy of Picture This Studios. For the adults looking to get dolled up then you need to attend Mistletoe aka ‘the white party’ where everyone dresses in all white to drink, mingle and dance under the stars. Since it is so near to Christmas, December 20th to be exact, everyone is in good spirits and it’s great that every year the proceeds are given to a local charity, this year being the Lions Club of Grand Cayman. To learn more about these upcoming events and more visit Camana Bay’s Holidays webpage.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry!

Of course I am on the hunt for any and every restaurant special or holiday theme that takes place across the island. Specifically to Camana Bay if you want to take advantage of the Christmas breeze then attend Karoo’s Sunday BBQ Brunch where they will be featuring a different spirit and a few Christmasy dishes will make an appearance. Agua’s Somm Standoff is happening on December 10th, but they are really getting into the swing of things on Christmas Eve by featuring delicious Christmas cocktails. On Christmas Day, Agua is serving a family-style lunch with the option of adding on unlimited champagne and wine, and for New Years Eve only guests with reservations from 8pm onwards can enjoy their set menu. Craving something sweet? Be on the lookout for select businesses around Camana Bay that took part in the ‘12 Days of Desserts’. The ‘Chocolate Yule Log’ from Petit Paris, had such incredible detail and this shareable dessert was absolutely delicious! For a bonus location you have to take a trip to the Kimpton Seafire Resort as of December 2nd and enjoy the extravagant Christmas themed cocktails inside their Gingerbread Bar. This adult-sized gingerbread house is one of my holiday favourite stops because you can smell the gingerbread all around you and I can confidently say there is nowhere doing Christmas cocktails like this on island!

Shop Until You Drop

As someone who hates driving around to multiple locations in search of gifts, I tend to buy everything I need in Camana Bay. Shopping for a wine lover? Stop at West Indies Wine Co. to sample their selection before you buy or just go and enjoy a few glasses with friends. Wanting something unique? Swing by 3 Girls & A Kiln for their custom designs including ornaments, tea towels, mugs and plates. If you are looking for talented local artisans stop by the Christmas Craft Market on December 14th to buy handmade jewellery, art and crafts. Personally I find a lot of what I need at Books & Books including great stocking stuffers for my family, presents for my young niece and cookbooks for my husband - it literally has it all. If you aren’t sure what to buy then a Camana Bay gift card is a great option as your gift recipient can spend it at most places around the property.
