Hi there!  I'm Chelsea Tennant and welcome to Island Epicurean!

As a proud Caymanian I feel lucky to live in the culinary capital of the Caribbean - the Cayman Islands. What makes Cayman so unique is that we are made up of both locals and expatriates, so our restaurants fall in the realm of classic Caribbean food, authentic global cuisine, or a fusion of flavours from the likes of Australia, Italy, Thailand and beyond.  I started this page as a way for me to challenge myself by eating at all of Cayman’s best restaurants in the name of food memories, but it has grown into so much more over the past few years.

There are multiple ways that you can use this site to find what you are looking for, so I have broken it down into these categories:

  • The Cayman Islands’ District Guides covers everything you need to know about a specific area of the island. It gives you information on the best mode of transportation, accommodation, activities and restaurants in that area that I love based on my personal experiences. The Guides will continue to be developed as I try more things out in each district, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see something there just yet.

  • My Cayman’s Best Lists highlight my favourite places to go when I am in the mood for something specific, whether it be brunch, local booze companies, theme nights and more.

  • If you are wanting to learn more about Cayman’s food scene and epicurean events then check out my blog The Epicurean Life: Cayman Islands. This gives you some insight into our culinary events, including Cayman Cookout, Taste of Cayman and Coco Fest.

  • If you have similar tastes to me then you’ll enjoy my travel blog The Epicurean Life: Around The Globe. I love to plan trips abroad so I happily research activities and restaurants to a new destinations for hours at a time. This blog highlights the fun experiences I had when visiting an food city or festival overseas and could prove helpful to anyone interested in travelling there too.

If you love food and travel as much as me, I can only hope that this blog inspires you to take an adventure to see, eat and drink somewhere new.  Please feel free to send me an email or message me on social media for any questions you may have about your visit to Cayman.

Cheers!
